Anyway, the work is not fully done. There are additional items to be installed which include the original Hugh Low Bridge feature "cross-circle" (or "XO") barrier and four new towers at both end. I took a closer look on the iron XO barrier and compared with some old photos, I believe they are preserved from the old bridge, whereby the towers are something new. From the half complete structure, we already can see the new bridge is designed in western style.

Hi Chun Kee,
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the new structure is not something overly dramatic!
Yeah, i think it should be ok.
ReplyDeleteHi Chun Kee,
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a study on rejuvenating Ipoh's old town, and I would like to cite a photo of the Hugh Low Bridge in construction. Apparently the upgrading works are complete, and I missed taking the photos while it's still in progress.
Do you mind telling me your surname so I can correctly reference your photo in my paper? Thanks,
Hew
Hi William, my surname is Lee. Hope the photos could help in your study. Good luck :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Btw, great effort you are putting here! When my work gets published (hopefully), I'll send you a copy if you are interested! =P
ReplyDeleteThank you William! It's my pleasure, I certainly interested to have a copy of your hard work :-)
ReplyDeleteThe article has not been published yet, it is still under review... but thanks again for your help before. Really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I truly admire your efforts in keeping this blog alive for our beloved town. Keep up the good work! (^^,)
No problem William. It's glad to hear that you like the blog! ^^
