From Borneo Motors to House Music Club

This old building at Brewster Road has just found its new owner which will make it another hot spot of night life, so called House Music Club. Changing from the previous well known OverTime bistro, the building is heavily renovated inside out. Its appearance become so much different now and is about to commence operation very soon, before the end of 2012. Anyway, I just found an old photo that bring us back to the very original image of this building. Let's check this link, and find the Chevrolet logo. This is it as seen from another side. The article tells us this building was owned by Borneo Motors, a famous car dealer. Over the years, occupants keep on changing which come with structural adds & removes on the building.

My father was manager of Borneo Motors in Ipoh, from 1955 through to 1957. We lived in a (then) company owned house at 1 Jalan Woodward, on the corner of Jalan Kelab Golf, which in turn runs off Jalan Raja Dihilir. That house still stands today. The building in the photo is indeed the old Borneo Motors office and showroom. In those days, the company sold Austin cars and lorry's, and Massey-Ferguson tractors.

Ipoh, the capital city of Perak State, Malaysia, is the city that tin built. Located at the famous tin mining area, Kinta Valley, it used to be the world's largest tin mine since 19th century. Today, Ipoh has grown to cover a large area including the neighboring township such as Bercham, Tasek, Jelapang, Menglembu, Pengkalan, Simpang Pulai & Chemor. The city is still developing continuously while maintains its beauty of nature and harmony.
