The Ipoh Railway Station has been upgraded since few years back to cater for the launching of twin track railway service. Entering platform was not restricted like previously did. So I proceed into it as my first return since my last visit many years ago. The platform does change a lot although the main building remains the same. Pillars are standing in front of the old building to support the giant roof. Anyway, I find the modern design roof does not match the original station building & those pillars have spoilt the old time view of the platform. Somehow the renovation has made it cleaner & tidier. There used to be an underpass to reach the opposite platform but it has been replaced by overhead bridges.
As we can see from the picture, the pillars appear not in harmony with the existing building (i find it too close to the old building). It is blocking the complete view on the old style architecture bcos i prefer to view the beauty of old design in one piece but the pillars are like chopping it into pieces. I also find the giant roof is too high & too huge that has surpassed the existing main building. It is worst when seen from front (like the picture shown in another blog "My Photo Collection" dated 20-Nov-08), the top of those pillars appear like punching through the existing station roof.
i would like to include ur recommendation on my final year project.may i know can u email me your details...is just to ease me for doing my citation and reference.
Ipoh, the capital city of Perak State, Malaysia, is the city that tin built. Located at the famous tin mining area, Kinta Valley, it used to be the world's largest tin mine since 19th century. Not only of its tin mine, but Ipoh also famous of its delicious food, beautiful mountain ranges, mysterious lime stone caves, attractive history & friendly citizen. Being the second in Malaysia that gain the status of city in year 1988 after Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh is one of the major cities in Malaysia with the population around 700,000. Began as a small village in 1870's, tin mine industry had brought in Chinese and Indian that boosted the town development since 1890's. The rapid growing town later upgraded to be the capital of Perak during the Japanese occupation at World War II. The rich tin resource had brought prosperity to many Ipoh miners that even make it once known as the City of Millionaires. Today, Ipoh has grown to cover a large area including the neighboring township such as Bercham, Tasek, Jelapang, Menglembu, Pengkalan, Simpang Pulai & Chemor. The city is still developing continuously while maintains its beauty of nature and harmony.
We are living in a busy world. We often have no time to appreciate the moments in our daily life. Take a break, stop & look around. There are many beautiful things, although it is simple & humble. I learn to gain a better life by appreciation & would like to share the images in my world.
