Monday is coming to the end when seeing this golden sunset. The chapter of working time is over & most people are on their way home or hunting for dinning place. There is still a long way to go for completing the week while many would be busy on the month end closing activities.

Old Town New Coffee Shop
Old town is well known to be Ipoh's hub for local food. Despite the old & famous white coffee shops have dominated the market, recently some new shops are joining the battle in Old Town. At the end of Belfield Street, these two new coffee shops, Sun Heng Loong & Dong Long are quite crowded in the morning. Beside promoting white coffee, they are also specialize in curry noodles. The competition indeed benefits food lovers as there are more choices now.

Tree Light
Lighting decoration is always a good choice to beautify a building. Apart from conventional lighting, featured lighting such as tree light is also well accepted recent years. The colorful and unique appearance is so attractive. So far tree lights are often seen in public buildings suchas shoping mall, hotel & commercial office.

"Cherry Blossom" in Ipoh
Few times in a year, you can see the beautiful "cherry blossom" scene around Ipoh. There are many tecoma trees planted by the city council. When come to the blossoming season, some trees along the street are full of flowers and looked like sakura in Japan. Do you agree with it?

Golden Sunset on Riverfront
The Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites are standing in the green with a golden sunset background. Watching sunset is probably one of the methods to calm ourselves down after a busy day.

New Hotel at Gunung Rapat
Yes, it's another project of building hotel in Ipoh. The location is just adjacent to Hillcity Hotel & Condo, opposite to the famous cave temple of Sam Poh Tong. The 10-storey hotel has reached top floor after more than a year from ground breaking. You may think that Ipoh has just added quite a number of hotels and should there be sufficient demand to feed them. Anyway, with the booming residential & commercial development around Gunung Rapat & Cyber City, investing on this hotel could be a good decision.

Gone With The Fire
You may remember a photo captured at Feb 2010 on these old shop houses, which seen most of it remained at its original appearance. Unfortunately, three of these shops were caught in great fire recently & seriously damaged. The vacant buildings are now facing tougher future, where it could be demolished for reconstruction. I certainly not willing to hear this bad news while hoping the owners can do something to safe them.

An Evening at Ipoh Padang
After a tiring working day, it is time to take a rest & relax. There are many people jogging around Ipoh Padang in the evening. Before night fall over the city, color of the sky changes from blue to purple to orange and slowly gets dark.

New Member of Lau Ek Ching Street
Since last 2 years, Lau Ek Ching Street is completely transformed from an unknown street to be a bright spot in town. On this particular block of commercial unit, one after another has been taken up & restored for different commercial purpose. In last September Bricks & Barrels Bar started renovating work and it is now one of the hottest bars in Ipoh. Today I see its adjacent units are also putting up new faces but I have no idea who is this new member of the street. By looking at the installed structure, it could be an extension from Bricks & Barrels.

Durian Durian
It's durian season again. Durian sellers are seen alongside streets in Ipoh and this is one of them in Old Town, beside Sin Yoon Loong white coffee shop. Few times in a year, the stall of durian (well, it may not even considered as a stall, but just selling durian on the road shoulder) will be set up here to catch the crowd in this primary white coffee district. In those old days, people used to squat & eat on the spot but nowadays many would prefer to let the hawker unshell it & pack it nicely for take away.

The Old Folding Shutter Door
When time passes, many things change. Some are really obvious (such as telephone, car, fashion, etc.) but some might not be so noticeable. While walking along a quiet Old Town street right beside Huge Low Bridge, Kenion Street (Loring Bijih Timah, I didn't know the street name until I do information search for writing this post), the five foot way which seems to have very little change with old style folding shutter door brought me back to my childhood time. I believe this folding door is a typical style in the years of 1960's & 70's. It's now getting lesser in town and many are replaced by modern roller shutter door that slides vertically.

Another Old Shop Wiped Off?
This old shop house at the cross road of Leech Street & Hale Street has drawn my attention for some time where it was unoccupied for a period. What capture my eyes is the extended side of this building which seems to be a balcony. I always imagine this could be an eating shop where some people were sitting up there enjoying food & Chinese tea. From the concrete posts that grow higher than the original building, I am quite sure my worry of an old shop house to be wiped off will turn true.

The Wave of Cloud
After a rainy night, crystal clear atmosphere in the morning seen with a great wave of cloud. Several downpours in the city for past few days had chased away the haze & return to us the beautiful blue sky. While we regain this nice gift y mother nature, probably it's time to seriously consider again what we can do, though a small action, to safe our only planet for living.

Night View from Station 18
We used to see the city skyline taken from the east & west of Ipoh because there are taller buildings or hills. But there are limited spots at south which enable a nice view on the city center. With the existence of AEON Station 18, it's multi-storey car park is now a new location to capture city skyline from south. Nevertheless, the scene is not so attractive because of the distance, and therefore the quality of this image is descended after maximum zooming. In this photo, I find there are mostly hotel buildings captured. If you check carefully, you might be able to name all 6 of them. Anyway, no prize for the winner :)

Gathering in Nando's
A speical event organized by Nando's inviting few Ipoh's bloggers for a small gathering took place in AEON Station 18. This is, indeed my first experience of such gathering and I find it's fun & cheerful. While enjoying the nice food, we get to know each other better (yes, especially we know each other's face now ^^ ) and also shared the stories of life, work, local developments & blogging. Thanks to Nando's effort for running such an interesting event & special thanks to Jolyn, the pretty & cute host of event. Looking forward to meeting more new friends in the future.
