Opening of AEON Klebang

This is a hazy day. However, people from all over Ipoh and its suburb are flooding the Aeon Mall Klebang regardless of the bad atmosphere. Even during noon, it still looked cloudy when I reach Aeon's car park. Well, to be precise, I did not park my car in the car park because it was real congested. I have no choice to park near petrol station across Kuala Kangsar Road and let my feet brought me here.

There are many balloon arts in the mall, but different from the opening of Aeon Station 18 in Mar 2012. A simple stage is at the center court with a huge decorative chandelier hanging from the ceiling. It is more like a Christmas decoration. Chinese lion dance was performed in the afternoon. The mall manager received pomelo, pineapple, orange and candies from the mascots as a symbol of prosperity and wealth.

Despite the expected crowd on the mall's first day, several well-known brands choose to commence business on a separate day. Among those, H&M and UNIQLO, which are the most awaited shops, will be opened on 29 October and 30 October respectively.

Aeon Klebang - Counting Down to its Grand Opening

After long wait of almost 2 years, Aeon Mall Ipoh Klebang is now 5 days from its official grand opening. 21st October is expected to be a busy and crowded day for this new shopping mall as there are some new brands which will appear for the first time in Ipoh. This is now a popular topic among Ipoh citizens.

There are many workers in the premise struggling for the last few days to get well-prepared for the mall opening. As I could see from the car park, the mall exterior alone does have many works yet to be completed, such as tenant signboards, lamp post wiring, trunk road widening touch up, traffic lights system, etc. Well, let's expect the cheerful Wednesday next week and this shall be a development milestone of Klebang neighborhood.

Poor Shophouse at Hume Street

Despite poor maintenance, these shop houses at Hume Street had been further destroy by fire. As I thought it may at least survived as a billboard carrier even without any occupant, it seems luck isn't on its side. Demolition is the most unwanted thing should happened on this century-old building, but I am not optimistic of its survival.

Haze Gets Worse Again

Everybody hates the haze from Indonesia, but it keeps haunting us in the past few days. And situation is getting worse today, where we could simply judge by naked eyes. This is really annoying........speechless......

Syuen become Syeun

Syuen Hotel, one of the best known hotel in Ipoh, commenced business in 1993. Since then many people find that it's a little confuse of how to pronounce its name correctly. I have heard all kind of different way of calling it, such as "swan" and "soon", while we have used to call it "shoe-en", which should be the correct one. However, I have not noticed, until recently, that the hotel name has changed from "Syuen" to "Syeun", I didn't even find the difference in my previous post about this hotel. I hope I am not the last one knowing this..... lol.

Return of the Beautiful Sunset

The thick haze that attacked Kinta Valley 3 days ago went to a an unhealthy level yesterday, but dramatically, the haze has completely gone today and the clear sky is returned. I am sure everyone in the city feel relief and grateful of regaining a healthy atmosphere. And we shall be taught a good lesson to protect the mother nature properly in order to sustain a healthy and liveable environment.

Grey Sky

Ipoh is found with thicker haze today. We can even staring at the sun directly during afternoon. Looking up at the grey sky, we know the air in this city is unhealthy. However, there are still many pedestrian and motorcyclist on the street do not practice wearing face mask.

Under Haze Attack

The Indonesia forest fire is, again, causing thick haze attacking Malaysia & Singapore. From east Malaysia to Southern states of Peninsula Malaysia, the haze is now entering the atmosphere of Ipoh. The first disappearing object from our sight are the surrounding hills & mountains. High rise buildings in the city are then become a simple but straight forward indication of the situation. It seems we will be living in such hazy environment for days, or even weeks, depend on how fast the forest fire can be put out.

A Recent Night Scene

I couldn't get a very nice photo because I wasn't carrying my tripod for capturing night scene. Anyway, Ipoh's skyline at night is getting nicer since some new high rise buildings completed and installed with decorating lights. I hope it will be more charming when more high rise towers completed in near future and featured with awesome light effect.

Worry About Tyre Puncture?

If you have your motorcycle tyre punctured, don't worry, here's you go the number that might help you. I guess this is not something new or special where people is trying to advertise in a simple way by simply painting their contact numbers on the walls, trees, and in this case, road shoulder bricks. I personally do not encourage this behaviour but this guy at least has done a better job to paint the characters neat and tidy.

Shophouses at Cross Junction

Located at cross junction used to be an advantage in the past for bringing more business because a cross road is normally more crowded and able to catch people's attention for numerous directions. That was true when there were more pedestrian than vehicle on the road in those old days. Situation has changed when the roads are now full of roaring motor vehicles and cross roads turn into traffic light junctions. It is now becoming dead zone where no parking is available and not people are too lazy to walk from distance. These 3-storey shophouses at Lahat Road are probably the "victim" of modernization and most are unoccupied. Eventually, it may bite the dust and replaced by some eyesore buildings, just like the one adjacent to it.

Take a Nap, Kitty....

It's currently rainy season. If not every day, at least it would rain in alternate days. The typical weather profile during rainy days would start with a sunny morning, followed by thunder storm in the evening and finally a cool night. This works very well for me as the weather wouldn't be to warm or too cold. In the afternoon, the kittens would feel just like us, lazy and sleepy in the afternoon. And it's real good to be able to take a short nap before the storm comes.

Personal Mobile Crop Market

I have seen an increasing trend of people selling crops such as fruit & vegetable on their own vehicle. Recently there are many cars or vans carrying durian and stop by at strategic locations for business. Sometimes there are something different, in this case, stink bean. And this is seen in downtown, not at city outskirt. The seller could be a farmer, I guess, that might be getting better profit by selling directly to the public since personal transportation is so common nowadays.

Rising of Medan Ipoh

Medan Ipoh or Ipoh Garden East has been one of the most happening spots in Ipoh. There are restaurants, pubs, hawker centre, amusement centre & shopping complexes at the vicinity. All these used to be developed in low rise shophouses and land has become limited nowadays. Since the first high rise MH Hotel completed, it seems future projects are focusing in growing vertically. While D'Festivo Condominium still progressing aggressively, few more taller towers will rise adjacent to MH Hotel which will reach to a new height limit in Ipoh to have 30 floors. And yet there are several high rise proposals in the pipeline. Probably in 3 years, this Ipoh's northern gateway will display a new metropolitan skyline.
