Since my previous visit to the site of new Casuarina Hotel at Meru Raya one year ago, the construction seems to progress swiftly where all three blocks of the hotel are now taking shape. I believe it will be completed and commence business by early next year. This will be another landmark after PTTC Tower that welcomes visitor to Ipoh right at the northern gateway, the Jelapang exit of North-South Expressway.

Face Lifting Ipoh Parade
If not the renovation program kicking off, I just not aware that Ipoh Parade has been operating for more than 15 years. The face lifting project which will bring to it a completely new appearance that changes the 1990's architecture into a modern shopping mall. The artist impression is also displayed in front of the mall entrance and this new look should synchronize with the under construction Weil Hotel. The transformation started with demolition of several metal roofs on top of the building and some renovation work is also seen to take place inside the mall. I am sure this will be a great and nice looking building that could make us proud.

Rise of A New Landmark
Tower crane has moved in and setup at the site of The Majestic. The construction is entering another milestone where we will soon see the building structure rising from ground. Being one of the tallest buildings in city center, The Majestic will share the domination of Ipoh skyline upon its completion and probably become a new landmark of the city.

Ipoh City - The Silver Jubilee
27-May-2013 is a special day for Ipoh which many may not aware of. This day in 25 years ago, Ipoh was granted status of city by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah. Since then 27-May is Ipoh's city day. However, there were no major celebrations on every city day since 1988. According to the first mayor, Dato' Omar, grand celebration will only be held on special anniversary, such as the silver jubilee. Time flies and Ipoh is now 25 years old as a city which I have never expected this day would come so soon. Somehow the joy of silver jubilee is not felt in the city except some regular events held by the city council.
And this is the oldest newspaper (24 years ago) I able to keep till today with the article highlighting Ipoh's vision on its future after gaining the status as a city. Nevertheless, Ipoh is not a fast blooming city in Malaysia but it still gone through many changes, developments during these years and the sense of pride among its citizens is boosting. Wishing that Ipoh will remain as a growing and charming city in the coming years, well preserved of its beautiful heritage and nature to become a truly glorious and harmony haven.

"Jusco" In Memory
The Japanese retail giant, Jusco has been restructured some time ago and currently owned by Aeon. Since then, the shopping centres in the group are gradually changing its name from Jusco to Aeon. Kinta City Shopping Centre was well known to Ipoh citizen as Jusco and the giant tower signboard that carried the logo of Jusco had been a landmark since 1997. It is now Kinta City's turn to carry out the change followed by the switch of owner. Logo of "Jusco" has been dismantled from the tower signboard and logo of "Aeon" will be installed soon. Nevertheless, I believe most Ipohite will continue to call this Jusco and many find that it's easier to differentiate Kinta City from Aeon Station 18.

Point of The Rivers Meet
Apart from the well known Kinta River, Ipoh has few other rivers flowing from north towards south. Pari River is one of it that streams at the western part of Ipoh. It is cutting through Chepor, Manjoi, Buntong and finally join Kinta River near Falim. As seen in the first photo, Pari River on the right is merging into Kinta River on the left. There are traditional Malay villages at both sides of the rivers and the villagers often come here for fishing. The water is quite shallow that ease one to cross the river for netting work.

Misty Mount Korbu
This is a peaceful morning of public holiday, Labour Day. While on the way for the voluntary duty, I stop by to capture this beautiful scene of misty Mount Korbu. It was too busy during these few weeks to upload photos in this blog, even too rush to take a break for photographing. Until this charming moment stops me from rushing to the duty centre.
