It was a rainy Sunday morning. The cool and refreshing weather is such a
nice atmosphere for the off day. I truly enjoy this relaxing environment and beautiful
landscape after rain. Some thick clouds, which should be heavier than normal,
are crawling along Titiwangsa Range and intermittently hiding Korbu peaks from our
sight. The looming peaks are seen to be more mysterious and charming.

Merrier River Walk @ Kinta Riverfront
The River Walk at Kinta Riverfront is getting merrier during Chinese New Year when many shops and stalls opened alongside the river. Decorative lighting has also increased since my last visit in December. Visitors are flooding the river bank tonight either for photographing, food or to enjoy the stage performance. The River Walk is successfully marked as one of the latest visiting spot of tourism in Ipoh. Hopefully it will be wisely maintained and turn up to be the city's attraction point to tourist.

Nostalgic Fencing
You may never expect a fencing can be something nostalgic for a city. Perhaps it is just a very usual feature that normally do not draw people's attention. Just like this fencing in Ipoh Padang, which is simply a combination of some concrete pillars and bars. I guess the fencing has been there since 3 or 4 decades ago. And I believe many Ipoh citizens could recognize this fencing even though only partial of its image is shown because it has been stored in our memory inadvertently despite its simple yet ordinary design.

Painting In Progress
The Perak State Development Corporation building, Wisma Wan Mohamed had been appeared dirty and mottled for years. Finally it is given a new coat. Painting work of the exterior is undergoing and seem to be almost 60% done. To me, it's wise that white is chosen for this 1980's building as this would make it appeared neat and outstanding.

Weird Object in the Sky
If there are UFO's visiting Earth, I might have captured one.... :-)
No, this is just a single piece of cigar shape white cloud in the sky this afternoon. Unless this is an attempt to have contact with the creatures on Earth or launching attack on human being (oh no, am I watching too many Hollywood fiction movies?), an Extraterrestrial would not show themselves in such a way.

New Town Skyline at Night
Viewing at northeast and east from Kinta Heights is Ipoh New Town where more high rise buildings are seen. Among those, Tower Regency Hotel is the most outstanding one with its decorative lighting and its height as New Town's tallest building. Anyway, the scene will be different in 2 to 3 years time when few more high rise buildings completed, such as Weil Hotel, The Octagon, The Majestic and Laman Bougainvillea Convention Centre.

Old Town Skyline at Night
After some positive feedback on Ipoh's skyline at night which posted some days ago, I am quite eager to share more night scenes from high spot. Tonight I have chosen Kinta Heights to capture the beautiful night scene of Ipoh city at several different angles. From top to bottom, these are the photos focused on Old Town that taken towards north (Kinta Riverfront Hotel, Wisma Taiko & Islamic Complex are seen), northwest (Railway Station & Town Hall) and west (Tabung Haji Building & suburb of Silibin, Buntong) respectively. There are more photos of New Town to be posted soon :)

Quiet Day at Downtown
This is the 2nd day of Chinese New Year celebration and is still a public holiday. However, the atmosphere at downtown is unexpectedly quiet with smooth traffic at most of the streets. Nevertheless, the warm weather could be the reason of stopping people from stepping out from air conditioned environment. Open space such as Ipoh Padang is hardly seen with people hanging around, leaving only the beautiful green field and charming blue sky in this quiet day.

An Attractive Cloud Wave
I always love to look up to the beautiful blue sky in sunny day. Today I find this wave of white cloud that looks like going to cover up the whole sky. The moment I capture these photos, it makes me feel like watching the special effect of Hollywood science fiction movie. Well, I know I am thinking too much because it ends up no UFO flying out from the thick cloud and attack us, or join us in the CNY reunion dinner :)

Ipoh Garden East is Changing
There are one after another development projects kicking off at Ipoh Garden East commercial district. After the launch of MH Hotel, Festival Walk shopping arcade and few blocks of shop lot, a luxury high rise residence project, Birchwood Residence, has just commenced its ground work. It is going to be twin condominium towers standing right beside the North-South Expressway. Adjacent to it is another condominium project, D'Festivo. When both projects completed in 2 to 3 years time, the skyline of Ipoh Garden East will be completely changed and it will be impressive as seen from the expressway.

Walking in War Zone?
These 2 shophouses at Jalan Datoh has badly deteriorated. The wall, pillar, roof and window frame are broken to the point of no returning. Staying in front this building making me feel like walking in war zone. Anyway, I believe it will be demolished soon, or else it might endanger people moving along the street.

Lego Heights
When Kinta Heights was found undergoing painting job December last year, I was thinking it would be changing to some other lighter but conventional colors. Although the job has not been completed, I can deny my previous prediction. It seems some striking colors are applied to make the old flat more lively. My first impression of this new appearance of Kinta Heights is Lego. Do you think the same?

Colorful Night Skyline
I have posted the day time skyline as viewed from Coliseum Square multi-storey car park last month, so happen I am at the same spot tonight to capture this night scene of Ipoh city. We are now having more colors at night especially the roof top signage of high rise building. Meanwhile, Kinta Riverfront Hotel shall be complimented for contributing additional colors to the city skyline from its twin buildings, in addition to the colorful light bulb trees installed along Kinta River.

Too Stubborn To Change?
Many occupied shophouses along Brewster Road are mostly renovated or reconstructed. Most of them have been very much different from its original design. Unit as seen in this photo which is still having original roof tiles, window & railing is suppose a valuable heritage building. But it seems persistence does not act in concert with development trend because most people still believe it would be a futile attempt to preserve shophouse in such poor condition.
