There is another tower crane, which is the sixth in town, just being fixed up today. The red-and-white crane at The Octagon site is still undergoing assembly process this afternoon. As it is surrounded by old low rise shophouses, and massive construction is not always seen in Ipoh, the crane appears to be a giant among these buildings and therefore has drawn many people's attention. After this, we could expect some more tower cranes shown up at sites of Ipoh Convention Center & General Hospital. In the coming two years, it will be first time in the history of Ipoh where most cranes appear in the skyline at one time.

Progressing D'Festivo Condo
Since the commencement of construction of D'Festivo Condominium, it is progressing quite rapidly. Tower crane at the site marks the location of this future landmark at North Ipoh exit of North-South Expressway. Upon completion, this will be one of the tallest building in Ipoh. There are several other projects in the pipe line which hit the height of more than 20 storey but still yet to see physical work carried out. If those are successful projects, Medan Ipoh (Ipoh Garden East) will display a completely new skyline that could compete Ipoh downtown.

Another High Rise Project
Right beside the east bank of Kinta River, along Anderson Road, signboard of a proposed high rise building is put up. This is supposing a Sovo & hotel project by local developer Keris Properties. The illustration is indeed quite impressive, which there are floating cafes & floating restaurants available. It is about 1km upstream of Kinta Riverfront Hotel. If the project turn up to be successful, the stretch of Kinta River between Anderson Road and Lim Bo Seng bridge could be river-themed tourism spot.

It's Growing and Growing
Without notice for several weeks, the Cititel Hotel construction is progressing quite rapidly. From my last observation, it was reaching level 2 about 3 weeks ago. As seen today, the hotel has grown to level 5 and begin over taking the adjacent Hokkien Association Building. It is planned to be a 12-storey building, which mean it is almost approaching half of its height. Although it will not dominate the city skyline but would be very noticeable from Ipoh Padang.

Beautiful Limestone Hill in the Morning
Ipoh is famous of its delicious food, beautiful mountains & charming limestone hills. While driving on North-South Expressway heading to Kuala Lumpur this morning, the limestone hill nearby Simpang Pulai appears sharp & fresh under the blue sky when the bright sunlight shining on it. This should be one of the best sceneries along this 800km-long expressway. I would say it is worth to build an observation point at this stretch of the expressway to let travellers relax themselves by enjoying the beautiful scene.

Finally, Excelsior is Closed......for Renvation
Excelsior Hotel, one of the oldest modern hotel in Ipoh has gone through more than 3 decades in servicing uncountable number of visitor. To compete with the mushrooming new hotels in the city, Excelsior had also done several times upgrade of its guest rooms. However, this time it is undergoing a big one, a major renovation which require the entire hotel to temporary cease operation. This is a drastic move after the acquiring by new hotel owner. Just wonder whether the name Excelsior will no longer in use and become a history, or it will continue its service with this well-known name.
